7 Effect Of Air Pollution On Health

234

When solid and gaseous particles mix in the air, it makes the air polluted. Many chemicals which are emitted from cars, factories, and smoke of industries are the main cause of air pollution in the cities. Air pollution is high in cities as compared to rural areas. Ozone addition in the air is a major cause of air pollution. Ozone is also responsible for many serious diseases in human beings. Air pollution is also the reason for acid rain. Due to acid rain, we have to face the loss of our crop. So the major reason behind all the issues is air pollution. Air pollution also disturbs our mental health.

Here, I am going to describe that, how air affects our mental health:

Depression

Air pollution causes brain issues like creates depression. A person who is living in an area that has polluted air has more chance of depression as compared to other people. Some harmful chemicals in the air cause inflammation and stress in our nervous system. Depression leads to many other problems. Like a depressed person can not perform his work properly. Some people can not sleep due to their stress condition.

Asthma

More than 20 million people in the united state of America are suffering from asthma. Asthma is a major defect that is mainly caused by air pollution. In an asthma condition, there is swelling and inflammation happens in the airways. Due to this inflammation airways become narrow.  It leads to chest tightness, shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing. If we do not care about it, it may be imminent or even fatal. There is no proper treatment available for asthma. Asthma causes major damage to the airways. The major factors that cause asthma triggers are pollen, dust, smoke, and volatile organic compounds.

COPD

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is another chronic disease, that is caused by air pollutants. In this also the respiratory tract is affected, and the airways become narrow.  The change is irreversible. In this disease, the small airways are disrupted due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The major cause of this disease is the inhalation of harmful smoke.

Lungs Cancer

Lung cancer is a major killer of both men and women. The major reason for this disease is smoke which is inhaled by breathing the polluted air. Other than smoke many other chemicals lead to lung cancer like ozone.

Heart Disease

Air pollution leads to heart problems. It is proved by research that harmful chemicals in the air damage the inner wall of the blood vessels. Due to this, it becomes narrow and hard. Due to the narrowness of the blood vessels, the flow of blood becomes difficult. It leads to an increase in blood pressure. Also, it adds strain to our hearts.

Anxiety

It is also approved by researchers and theories, that if exposure to some particular matter increases, so it increases oxidative stress. This oxidative stress causes inflammation. These inflammation are the reason to exacerbate anxiety.

Increase Fatigue

Nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and many other breathable particles are released from the industries. Carbon dioxide interferes in the distribution of oxygen throughout the body. So due to this, it leads to dizziness, confusion, headache, disorientation, nausea, and fatigue. These conditions become severe if these compounds are inhaled in high amounts.

These all above are the major problems that are caused by air pollution. It becomes severe if these reach up to the chronic stage.
